Default Vancouver Science World

Hey guys,

Have been away for a while as I've been relocating to Vancouver but found the time to get back into taking more photos in and around Vancouver.

Took this a short while ago, which I was pretty happy with, but there is something not quite right about it and I can't work out what. Perhaps it needs cropping horizontally a little? Any thoughts?

Hello!! Really, I would be proud to have gotten such myself. I wonder if your feeling of not quite right might be because of a small bit of perspective shift? The visual line horizon and the line off the dock seem a bit in conflict. You might try PTLens (free or $5.00) that works wonders. That was the first ever software I got for my D70s! If you have other stronger software and want to make it really "jump" I suspect that getting the sunset to be close to the colors of the pier area (reddish and orange are wonderful there) it would balance nicely and make almost a good gallery print. Well done anyhow, I sure am impressed.

I do not know if I do this correctly or not. I sent a longer one via "new reply" button. hope it worked. Anyhow, this is fabulous. I think for a "gallery" print that the sky needs to have that "red/orange look up to about 70% of the distance to the pier edge from the left side. This is beautiful. If you have Capture NX it will be easy with just one adjustment.

Thanks for the feedback, Richard!

I think what my problem with the image is it looks a little "squat". If it was wider - more panoramic - with a little more background, that might have given it a bit more balance. I don't remember if I cropped it or not, I'll have to look at the original image later. I should try cropping it and see if that makes any difference.
