Focusing

I have a really stupid question to ask. Ok, on the Rebel XSi when you put the switch on Manuel Focus, how do you focus? When I move the lens it just moves the object closer or farther away. So how do I focus it?

There should be two "rings" on your lens - one to zoom in and out (which you are referring to) and a focus ring. The focus ring is usually near the end of the lens. Hope this helped.

The Canon 18-55 has the main zoom ring, but the front portion of the lens can also be turned when in manual focus mode. Just turn the very very front of the lens (you'll see it has a ridged area).
