Default Rainforest beckons

F8 18.0mm 1.13s ISO 1600

This was first outing with my D80. The rainforest is a challenging environment for both light and perspective. I am really interested in how I can improve my composition. I was on auto ISO and handheld and, next time, I would take my tripod and lower the ISO but wonder what else I could do to improve these shots. I visit this wonderful place regularly and find different shots every time but still think there is heaps of room for improvement.

Lamington? Man do I miss that place!

I'd try dropping the tripod as low to the ground as it'll go, and try shooting up a bit more, to get some more height in the picture.

Nonethless, a great picture. You got the colour right on.

Thank you for the comment Camera-Poser. Its not Lamington - its Mary Cairncross in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Small but amazing variety for the size. I plan to return again soon with tripod so will try different perspectives.

Default you really have something here

i'm a sucker for 'nature' shots anyway. but look at those roots. you could spend some time and 30 or 40 close ups on those, if you haven't already. Good composition though.

Love the way the path pulls your eye through the image. I think it's a good shoot and will be great at a lower perspective.
