Default Darkening skies

Hi - thought I'd share a winter scene with a difference - just dark skies! Cropped this and warmed it up - any tips for improvements?

hello! i like this photo! making it two-toned like that gives it a lot of class for me. though i think you'd have to post the original to get helpful comments on improvement also, this may not be the right forum to post this. i think it would be more appropriate for the post processing critique forum?

I think the warm colors are great in this shot. The gulls seem a bit soft but being a silhouette i think its fine.
Depending on where you cropped you might want to see about giving the birds some more room on to fly into the frame. Maybe take the original recrop leaving some room on the right hand side then do a horizontal flip to have them flying from right to left so viewers eyes dont fly right off the frame.
The way a person reads really plays into the way we view photos. Naturally we want to look from right to left and then on to the next page. If you flip it we'll be forced to look at the right towards the left and then stay in the frame a little longer.
I like the post work here and again the warm tones are great!

thanks CallmeKat - the two tone was just the way it came out - all I did is warm the colour a little. Can't take much credit for that one!! Glad you liked it!

Interesting about the notion of the movement of the eye on the page - my original won't allow me to leave any more room there - but I might try giving it a flip. Thanks!

Yeah tried that once or twice - found that without the explanation it can cause whiplash - by including the explanation I can expect a muttered oath and acceleration. Not that I blame him - even the dog and cat get up and walk away when they see the camera coming now!!
