Default November Hawaii Trip

Went to Oahu in November and there were certainly plenty of photo ops there! What a gorgeous island.

Default Great location on Oahu to shoot

Might I suggest a great location for shooting on the island of Oahu. There is a place nicknamed Magic Island. It is Aina Moana State Recreation Area near Ala Moana Regional Park. It's pretty much on the beach in front of the Ala Moana Mall.

Get there around Sunset. You will be richly rewarded with spectacular view of Honolulu, Waikiki and Diamond Head at sunset. Believe me, if you get there at sunset, you WILL enjoy the view!!

Just bare in mind not to leave your camera equipment in the car. They are having problems with the homeless at that park and there have been cars robbed at some of the tourist locations. As always, don't be afraid, just keep your eyes out and be smart about where you leave your stuff.

I went to Oahu in November a couple of years back. It really is a fantastic place! I got about a million sunset photos; my wife was a bit annoyed actually...

Here's my favourite, from right out the front of my hotel:

If I had the choice again though, I'd spend more time on the Big Island. I think I took even more sunset shots there! Here's a shot from right outside that hotel:

Yes, it's a wonderful place to get landscape shots. And I did manage one half decent nighttime shot:

Nice! I wanted to do some night shots, but the camera I had was going bad with dead pixels and is really noisy! I now have my 20D so if ever I go back there...
