Default Montego Bay Sunset

This is my favorite shot from a cruise I took back in 2005. We had followed Hurricane Wilma from Galveston Texas to Jamaica, where it rained all day. The worst of the storm had blown through the day before, leaving flooding, washed out roadways and power outages, yet the people we met were so strong. They approached life with an outlook that I have often envied. Upon our departure, we were treated to one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen. A fitting tribute to one of the most memorable places I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. This shot was taken handheld, from the upper deck of the Carnival Conquest Cruise Ship. My camera was only 3 days old, and only used in Auto Settings. I'm still using that camera, but thanks to the wonderful people I've met on this forum, I'm now using all of the manual settings as well. I wish I knew them back then. Then this shot would be worthy of the memories I will carry of this remarkable place.

Quite stunning I might say. If you do any post processing on this I might suggest straightening out the horizon as it seems to be tilted a little

Smile Rays

I like the way you caught the sun rays coming through the clouds. I would probably crop the building to the right off and an equal amount to the left to get the logs or whatever that is out of there because it is slightly distracting. Good image!

Thanks everyone for your comments. I haven't edited this yet, because it's one of the few images I've ever taken, that looks on screen the way I remember it in person. (Does that make any sense?) Anyone wishing to edit this, may download the larger version from Flicker (for our newer members, all you need to do is click on the above image), and do as you will. If you like your results, share them with the rest of us, either here or in one of the post processing threads. Thanks again.
