Default Madrid Cityscape

Hi everyone, I took this shot yesterday and I'm quite pleased with the composition, but the problem is that the subject (the towers) seems to be very grainy. Does anyone have any ideas on what could have caused this? I had ISO on 100 and everything else is quite 'quiet', but the towers don't look good at all!

Thanks
Joe

The towers are the main subject???????

By looking at the shot without reading the post, i would say the main subject is the construction site and the big pile of rubbles. Your camera seems to think so too that is why your towers are off focus plus the atmospheric conditions may contribute to having your towers a bit faded. To clearly idntify wht the main subject is, one has to choose the back ground and foreground correctly.

Next time consider getting in much closer to the towers if you desire them to clearly be the main subject.

Your aperture is pretty wide open at f/2.8... if you want foreground and background both in focus, you'll need to stop down to f/16 or f/22 or something.

I've shot with a Fuji before too (S8000fd) and I seem to remember that the aperture setting didn't have a huge effect on depth of field - but it's probably worth a try anyway.

Man, this is breathtaking. I love the contrast of the futuristic skyscrapers with stone bricks in the foreground. Gorgeous. I don't think anything should be changed. Beautfiul shot!

I agree with leviathan, it's like a metaphoric image.

Nice try, Joe. Interesting photo and the exposure was spot on. Thanks for sharing. But I think I have to agree with Barabe. There are many elements in the photo and I was surprised too that the subject were the towers.

Cheers!

Yeah I guess that the towers aren't the main subject, I just went out with getting a shot of them in my mind. I did actually dial in the autofocus area to one of the towers, not the rubble, Anyway, I'm not too worried about that, I was more wanting to know why the towers would be noisy in comparison to the rest of the shot. Maybe it's just that they're darker than the other elements, or it could just be one of the drawbacks of a relatively 'budget' camera.
Anyway, thanks for the comments (and compliments)
