It's already been said but more DOF maybe is needed, f'11 or higher just experiment and use your preview screen on the back of the d90, magnify in to check sharpness all round and get used to using your cameras histogram.

looking at the photo i'm guessing waiting a few more minutes the sun would of went behind clouds and you may have taken the edge off the sun, i would of used a 2 stop ND filter lower shutter speed if that was the case, but i'm no such expert just learning.
I agree here... my tip would be the same. check out the shot after taking it and have a rethink... I would agree that I would have tried to wait for the clould to shift and cover more sun and then maybe drop the shutter speed and allow more warmth from the sunlight to spread through the cloud.

The sun was lighting up the mist on the river. Without it, it was actually a really dull shot,
I definately agree with the DoF.

Beautifulpic, like the color tones and composition.. bit blurred b/g though, and the sunspot, well.. i'd say it's barely noticeable. I can accept that. Oh, and love the golden colors fall on the river. excelllent.!

Great pic peely. I personally also like the first picture better. I also really like the contrast between the snow and the warm glow from the sun. Looks great. Good job!
