Default get out of the way!

Hi all,
i know this is not a great shot but i'm new so its not bad for me. These folks would not get out of my way so i tried to go with it and use them. My specifics are re composition. is the branch annoying or does it add to a shot in which not much else is going on? i think maybe it makes that guy look like he has horns. is there too much "nothing" sky at the top? i was hoping for more interesting clouds but the heavens did not cooperate. maybe some cropping is in order? Any other ideas much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

i got a tripod for christmas and was happy to use it near the car but being a novice felt like a goose taking it up to the viewing platform so maybe next time.

Well, if they dont get out of the way, then include them in your pic.! it'd make an interesting silhouette.! the thing amiss here is that the angle is too high. Change the subject or your objectives for a while if the conditions don't permit.... be flexible, and fast, a 40D is a good camera. Back to the picture, i think the pic great, you got the ambience and exposure nicely done.. like the colors.

I like the colors and dont mind the level ata ll. I do think that it might have more impact if it were simpler. Crop it to a portrait crop and see what you think. (removing all but the two people)

alternatively, another idea would be to crop the tree branch (yes, that looks kind of weird) and keep 4 people (just crop out the half person in the very right of the frame).

I think the colors are awesome. I like the way you got a silhouette going on. And the sparkle of sunlight is pretty cool!

I think it's a nice pic as it is - the exposure is perfect IMO. I also reckon that without the silhouettes of the people it'd be a less interesting shot. I like the branch for the same reason.

In regard to people being in the way, you can always ask them to move! Just be polite and let them know you will just be a few seconds to take a few snapshots, and not depriving them of a great view until after the sun has set. If they say no then you've not lost anything.

Thanks everyone for the feedback and suggestions. Please don't take my slowness as unappreciativeness for your time...i've had a few days of a very demanding baby.

Here are crops as suggested. I'm very interested in what you think. I like the idea of the two people but miss the guy with the elvis hair so am thinking the crop with four may be better. ????

Hi, I really like the second crop you've done it really cleans the shot up but retains the atmosphere of the original, I think the portrait takes too much away. As others have said, the exposure and silhouettes are well done.
Also something weird has happened to the top and left borders, not sure if it's from the upload or the crop.

Thanks for the feedback..i tend to agree with you. i had noticed the weird borders and reduced pic quality. Its just on the upload and i figured it was close enough to give the idea rather than try to repost them.
