Default Snow scene

Hi all
My first post for critique, all comments welcome. Just got Elements 8 so still learning lots. Hoping to enter this in my local camera club digital projected image competition but wondering if it's good enough.

1. I cloned out a line of trees partially hidden by the horizon (between the snow and the sky). Difficult to see on lap top screen but little worried my edits will show up on a large screen.

2. I also added lighting effect using Filter>render>lighting effects, light type omni from behind the tree.

Thanks

It's a beautiful shot. I am also unable to see your cloning but I'm looking at this with my work laptop (shhhhh) so someone else with a better monitor may be able to tell better.

The color you managed to get in the sky and the gradation in color is very pleasing as is the very long shadow of the tree that leads the eye away from the obvious focal point. The 1/3 rule is also used very well here too.

The only thing I really noticed immediately (and this is obviuosly a personal taste issue) is that the tree is crooked... I don't mind the slope of the land but for some reason the fact that the tree is leaning to the left was what jumped in my eye. ...or maybe it's an optical illusion?? I'm not sure anymore after looking at it again.

Overall, I like this minimalist style. It almost looks like a studio composite shot as opposed to an actual shot out in the snow. Nice job!

Thanks Tim
I wasn't sure about the tree either to tell you the truth but you're right it needs straightening.
Your comments have been most helpful, thanks again
