Hi everyone, I'm new to the group. I'm also excited by the opportunity to get constructive feedback from those with a good technical and compositional understanding, and perhaps even trade a few ideas along the way.

Your shot of Mt. Everest certainly will play with the minds of many of the viewers initially. I know that when I came to this thread, visions of the grandeur of the mountain flew through my head, but this, is something entirely different. Rather than giving the viewer a predictable (while still breathtaking) view of Everest, you have provided a shot unlike any of Everest I've seen. The good use of perspective downsized the mountain to nothing more than an overgrown hunk of chalk on the side of the road. That aspect of this image amuses me quite a lot.
Compositionally the perspective of the road is well done, maybe a bit cliche, but very well done. You have captured it well. I think the sky is lacking quite a lot, your eyes follow up the road, and are drawn to the sky, and it is just not that rewarding. Maybe you could photoshop a different sky in over the current one, or just clone some other clouds from another shot (that fits) into this one. The colors are a bit drab, but it is understandable, not a lot you could have done. I would possibly add a bit more sharpness and contrast, and maybe burn and dodge some of Everest itself? Just my opinions! I do like the shot quite a lot actually, great job!

I think cropping the image so that the mountain is in the bottom right third of the image willmake it look reallly nice. The mountains on the right side of the image are dark and not very interesting and do not add anything to the image. By cropping it in the manner I described, it will follow the rule of thirds and become a nicely composed shot.

Those are the Tibetan praying flags. Can be found strung along mountain ridges and peaks high in the Himalayas to bless the surrounding countryside or for other purposes.
