Default Impressionist Winter

I captured this shot this morning in a burst of heavy snowfall (that didn't last nearly long enough!). I like how it softened the whole image and gave it that impressionist feel.

Do you think the snowflakes and trees are enough of a subject in the image? Or would it have been better with a singular subject, something more striking? Thank you in advance for your comments.

aperture - f/5.6
shutter - 1/60

I love it! When I saw the subject title "Impressionistic Winter" and then saw your image, I thought that you had done some pp effect on the image to give it an impressionistic appearance. But it's really the snow coming down hard, and it really does give a nice impressionistic appearance. I think it is a very unique shot unlike I've seen before. I like the multiple tree subject, as opposed to a one tree subject. The multiple tree subject creates excellent contrast between the fast falling snow and the beautiful birch trees.

I'm no expert but I like it too! It's deffinately impressionistic so there won't be a subject that stands out. There is so much overall detail in the picture - the detail on the trees is amazing and I like the variation in light as well.

You definitely need more than one subject if you are going for impressionism. Of course they had all kinds, but many of the most iconic impressionist paintings are about the color and movement of the subjects, rather than one strong but singular subject.

I really like this picture. You have captured the feeling of the impressionist movement, and I am so impressed that you did it without major post production work.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and comments!

Apart from a slight bump in contrast (in PS), there was no post-processing done here. I wish we had snowfall like this all the time!

Really nice image...I think maybe just a bit more contrast/saturation *might* help. But definitely a keeper as is, and I think the composition is excellent.
