Default A splash of color in a sea of white

Taken during a blustery snowy morning where everything was gray and white.
D90 105mm
ISO 200
Exposure 1/159

I needed to post process a bit. I made small adjustments to the white balance and increased the contrast by 10% in order to get the photo to pop.

Hi, I really like the exposure. But I don't like the composition. I think hat the bird (which I assume is the key part of the picture) doesn't pop as much as it should. I think it would been a better shot if you had cropped or zoomed a bit more since the trunk and branches that are not covered by snow are way too distracting.

Thanks for the feedback. I was attempting to have the main branch of the bush lead you to the cardinal. I'll try cropping the photo a few different ways to see what I can come up with.

I think that looks great. The only thing I would suggest is that the bird is a little to close to the edge of the frame. If you can crop this to put the bird right on a one thirds hot spot, I think this shot will be classicly satisfying.

I agree with Sterling's crop suggestion. I think it's a beautiful shot, with a bright red cardinal popping out of a white, snowy tree. You could certainly zoom in and crop it, as gjk suggested, but the image would take on a totally different personality, one that is less unique. Your current shot is very unique and engaging. How awesome to capture that gorgeous cardinal on such a snowy day!
