Default Garden photo - color help

Hi folks

This is my first critique. It may even be my first post on DPS or close to it.

I went to London with my family in August. We went to Hampton Court and I was totally stunned by the meticulous, beautiful gardens that I saw there.

I've been struggling to get the colors right in this photo. The edges around the edge of the tree don't look right, almost highlighted (whats the term for this?). I can't adjust the colors for one area without affecting another area.

Exposure: 0.005 sec (1/200)
Aperture: f/7.1
Focal Length: 35 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Exposure Bias: 0 EV

EXIF data: Flickr: More detail about DSC_0329. I tried to copy and paste it but it looked like a mess.

Other info: I have Photoshop CS3 and Lightroom 2 on my Mac. If you'd like, I can post the original (JPEG).

I look forward to your comments!

I think what you're talking about is called Chromatic Aberration.

It can be somewhat corrected.

I think I might use Quick select to see if I can get some more detail out of the sky without affecting other parts of the photo

For the colors...it looks like it was a fairly hazy day. I noticed you had your white balance set to Auto. It is possible your white balance is off. Try setting your white balance manually to fit the conditions such as sunny, cloudy, indoors, or flash. You might also try using a polarizing filter next time under similar conditions. It will cut down glare from atmospheric haze, and increase the saturation of your colors.

As for fixing it in photoshop, I am of no use. I don't know the program nor the techniques for correcting these things well enough to even make a guess. Hopefully someone will respond and give you details on that aspect...
