Hello all! I made this image at 1:44am. My question is: is the composition right for this kind of photograph? What or how can I improve this shot?
Camera: Nikon D1x Flash mode: No flash Focal length: 105mm F-Number: F/18 Exposure time: 13 sec. Metering Mode: Pattern Exposure Program: Manual Exposure Comp.: -0.7 step I'd like to say, that mostly I shoot in the Manual mode, as it gives me complete control of making awesome images. I encourage others to play around with it. I'm not done with mine, as it is fun and there are more things to discover. |

In my humble opinion, it is too dark, overall. The softness of the fog doesn't bode well with such extreme contrasts.
You should be able to draw out more detail in the shadows, without blowing your highlights, by using the Curves Adjustment tool, and brightening the low-middle range of your histogram. I think it's a good composition, and I like the feeling. I would only work on increasing the tones at play by bringing out more detail in the shadows.

Don't wanna know what you were doing out at such an hour, besides getting a cool shot that is
I guess I agree about the shadows, but maybe not; would be interesting to see a side by side. It feels like an old black and white movie...TFS! P.S. I'm stuck in AV and TV right now...but a month ago I was still stuck in JPEG so who knows what next month will bring ![]() ~C
