Post Grass looking up

This is one of the few shots I have tried from my new Sony DSLR. This one was taken from the first floor balcony in the evening couple of hours before sunset. While it was bright enough, i liked it only after making it dark in the editor.
Have posted the original and the edited one. I am new to DSLR and a novice, so ready to take any criticism.
As is:

1/80 sec.

Hello, and welcome to DPS!

Here's a question for you: what is the subject of this photo? Put another way, what is this photo about? Did you have something specific in mind?

I think that editing the brightness makes the photo a bit more moody, but it still lacks something to catch (and keep) my attention. It's very important to know what you're intending to photograph, before you hit that button!

While the initial thought in my mind was to show the trees, one with full of leaves and other having lost all of it. But as you pointed out there is not one single subject to attract attention.
I felt it myself when I started editing the picture, as my attention got drawn towards highlighting the clouds rather than the trees.
Appreciate the comment.

I agreee with the comment about lack of subject, There is nothing here for the viewer to focus on. That being said I really like the sky in this, its very dramatic. I also like the contrast between the trees and the sky. The branches really pop out. The perspective is good. I like how the trees tower over the image.
