Was this handheld? Just looks a little fuzzy to me. It's a good start.

No, it wasn't. In fact, I used a remote release! Unfortunately, I'm shooting with a very messy kit lens.

Nice image! I think this would look great as a pano-type shot with a long horizontal crop. That type of crop would emphasis the horizontal banding on the clouds/sunrise.

I don't see the shake. I like the shot a lot. I especially enjoy the footprints.

I like just about everything about this. My only suggestion for improvement is to do someting to make the lighthouse stand out a little more, I would lighten it a bit, so that the you emphsize the subject more, or possibly saturate the red bands a little so that they appear redder, red is alwasy an attention grabber, especially in the mosty cool colored image.

I think this is a lovely shot, but I agree with larryb52 .. doing something to make the lighthouse stand out more would be a good idea.

It looksoft to me, as well. At 1/80, I wonder if your sensor caught shake from your prism/mirror flipping during the shutter release...

It also ooks under exposed. I realize it is an early morning shot, but the snow should be closer to white at it's brightest. A pushed exposure would bring out more detail in the foreground shrubbery, and the distant grasses between the snow and the lighthouse...

I think is a beautiful image. I also think that there has been some great suggestions made. I took the liberty of incorporating some of the suggestions, and this is what I came up with. The adjustments that I made were to adjust levels and contrast slightly, use an unsharp mask, dodge the highlights in the lighthouse about 15% and apply about a 20% red paint on the band and top of the lighthouse. A crop to a more panoramic image was then applied. If you want me to take this down, let me know, otherwise, let me know what you think.

I liked the composition the way it was. I liked the triangle between the lighthouse, the sun, and the broken shrub at the bottom. I didn't feel the latter was distracting at all.

The original shot was pretty soft. Unfortunately, sharpening it the way you did didn't improve it. I've had my kit lens do that to me on a really well composed shot in the past myself. This is one of those times when it would be nice to go back and try it again. Hopefully you live around there and will get a chance to do so in the future, I think it has a lot of potential.
