Yea, the sky color varied in the original photograph but not as much as in the edited photo. I boosted saturation because it gave the clouds more depth I felt...
Is the sky color too distracting? As to more sand, I might have been able to muscle in a little more but not too much since the water was a few feet behind me (narrow strip of land). |

Hi Zoohouse,
I'm going to say that exact opposite. I think that the sky is the most interesting thing in the photo and I would say crop out the beach in the foreground and just leave just the rocks. Or, go all the way and have just water and sky. But that's my taste. KG |

I'm thinking the sky looks so big because the it blends in almost seamlessly with the water. I do like the sky though, its very interesting. Knowing what do do with the beach is personal preference. I like it the way it is. If I were to do anyting with this it would be to darken the ocean a little so that there is better contrast at the horozion.

One of the toughest things about beach photography is that shots with the complete horizon tend to be a bit bland. I've done many of those myself. Instead, try to find some elements that include a subject along with the sand, water, and sky that don't flow across the entire shot. Just a thought.
