I've never really done a night time shot before that featured lights, so I thought I would try my hand at it here.

This is a shot that could have used a tripod, but I didn’t have it with me for this one. I used my 50mm wide open (f/1.4) with the ISO set to 400. As it is, I was only able to get about 1/50 shutter speed, barely short enough for handholding. Although not perfect, I’ve decided that it’s better than no picture at all, and I did want to get a shot of what we saw that night.

Just wanted your general thoughts, especially concerning exposure. Too much light? Not enough? Thanks in advance for your comments. You can see a more detailed version here.

EXIF:
Model Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XSi
Exposure 0.02 sec (1/50)
Aperture f/1.4
ISO Speed 400
Exposure Bias 0 EV
Focal Length 50 mm
Lens 50.0 mm

The lighting just looks perfect.
In fact the picture as a whole looks fine to me.

I think the exposure is fine. None of the lights are too hot, or to dim. The only comment I have is that I wish you could have gotten the roof's apex in the shot.

Good job!

D-ohh, good point. It's always the details like that that I seem to miss.

The composition is superb, the color tone looks great. As far as the exposure goes, if you darken it some you will loose detail in the crowds, however the subject is the buildings, so I would expose for them, which in my opinion is just about riht.

Really good shot. I like it. You should sell it to that store so they can use it in their marketing.

Judging from the number of postcards and whatnot already in their stores, I think somebody has already beat me to it! But thanks for the compliment.
