Default Desert driving

Just to break from the snow pictures (being in Egypt there isn't any).
I took this with my old point and shoot, I have since upgraded to a DSLR, so quality and other things besides.
I am just wondering about the composition, what do people think about the flaring, too much, or does it highlight? And the ratio of shadow behind the vehicle to the lead space in front of it?
Bear in mind I took this while driving along in another landcruiser across the desert, it was fairly bumpy.

Exif data that might be relevant

Model - PolaroidPDC4350
f/5.9
1/902 sec
ISO 70

Considering the fact that you took this picture in The drive you did very well. Outstanding picture captured by you.

Love the desert! It is a nice break from snow, I agree.

I would try to crop the land cruiser into the bottom right corner..rule of thirds style. Very fun!

Nice shot, I actually like the flare, it seems appropriate for the desert sun, though I might experiment with a graduated filter in post processing so that I could lighten up the shadow side of the vehicle without blowing out the sky. Agree with sunvalley23 about the cropping.

Ok, so end up with it looking more like this? Or is this too brutal cropping?
I tend to never really crop my pictures, it is something I need to learn how to do effectively.
Cheers for the help all.

I think it's safe to say that's pushing the subject too far onto the edge. I would vote to increase fill light to get a bit more detail on the truck, all the while keeping the flare where it's at right now (as it works great with the scenary). Also, go ahead with the crop, yet leave some of the shadow in there.

Best of luck.
