Default Iconic Spokane Shot

Hi all,

This will be my first of hopefully many posts here on the forum. I took this photo during the last day of Hoopfest here in Spokane, WA. The image is that of our two most popular landmarks: the Clock Tower and the Expo '74 Pavilion.

I took this photo with my iPhone 3G, as it was all I had at the time. I'm pretty new to photography as a whole. My father-in-law just gave me his old DSLR, a Canon EOS D30, so hopefully my photos will get better with time.

Edit: Sorry, I know this is a critiquing forum. I guess I'm just looking for general critique/comments on composition and such. I know you can't do much with an iPhone, and none of the other photos I plan on sharing will be taken with it.

Hi. Welcome to DPS. If the subject are the clock and pavilion, I think they are too far in the background. The pavilion is throwing me off because it is crooked. It makes me feel dizzy. The photo is a little dark also. I don't mean to offend. I am trying to help. That's how I am learning by people telling what I do wrong.

Default Perplexed........

This photo has me totally baffled! I have not seen this location personally, but the original photo makes it look like the Pavilion was built on a fairly steep slope with the main column being perpendicular to the ground. I have never seen this done before, but I am not an architect. After adjusting the perspective to make the column appear vertical to the horizon, the structure is still totally out of what I think is normal perspective, This has me talking to myself........lol. If anyone can help me understand this I would appreciate it. If you would prefer I take this image down, please let me know.

Jim
