Default Cruise on the river - Qibao old town

Hi.

I took this picture last month in Qibao old town, southwest of Shanghai. I removed colors in LR and applied a sepia preset.

Do you think there is too much post processing ??

Cruise on the river

Camera: Canon EOS 400D Digital
Exposure: 0.005 sec (1/200)
Aperture: f/8.0
Focal Length: 55 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Off, Did not fire

I have a similar image without post processing here if you wish to compare.

Thanks

Hey Woods,
Good composition on the scene. My eye is pulled immediately to the buoy on the side of the boat and doesn't seem to draw back from them. Perhaps if you brought the color back in the boat but left the rest of the scene, or mute the colors slightly on the buoy that would help let the eye travel around the scene easier.
Looks like a nice trip as long as your not the one running it;-)

Thanks, I'll try that. It's always funny to see other reactions, my eyes are not caught by the buoy but now that you said this I'm stuck on it !

Hi Woods,

Lovely image! Wonderful contrast and the sepia toning is excellent.

But I have to agree with Dodgeinart. Keeping the lanterns red draws my eye right towards them. Which is fine, if you are trying to say something about lanterns, but I don't think they are the subject of this image. If you want to do some selective coloring, I think the person steering the boat makes a better choice.

Great image!

i dont think i have the authority to comment on a technical perspective or as a photographer im below amateur level.
i just love the composition, the rule of thirds just doesn't apply with this great photo i guess

A nice shot! Evokes late afternoon, evening. Doesn't need the orange, seems out of place. That's the only real discordance I see

Thanks for the comments.

BBenson, maybe it's too orange... That is what I was wondering.

I don't mind the orange but agree that the red buoys (lanterns?) are not the correct focus. A lovely image. (I'm just a beginner, but I have my eye).
