I tried to capture a great sunrise and ended having this shot which is kinda disappointing to me because the sun was not even in the pic, though i like the end result in general.
so how about you guys, can you please tell me what was the mistakes that i should have avoided for this pic?

Seriously? I wouldn't change a thing about it. I like the composition, I like the boat silhouettes, I like the texture of the water in the foreground, and I like the bright spot caused (I'm guessing) by the sun reflecting on the water. That is a lovely shot.

i actually had a shot with the sun rising on this particular day but i was not that happy with it... so i drive a few more meters and found this spot, but the sun was already way up but still not that bright. so that's how i ended up with this. thank you so much...

i took this pic with my 2 days old T1i that time kinda fresh from the box hehehe
i am really happy with this new hobby.
im shooting for almost a month now and really enjoying every bit of it.

Dude, the sun is there. Not just in it's usual position --- but reflecting on the water -- which makes it more interesting to look at... great shot!
