Default Starting to do landscapes...

Star

Well I guess this is more of a waterscape, but that's ok right?

I'm just starting out with doing land/water/skyscapes and am not really sure what I think about this photo. What do you think of the exposure of this photo? What about the composition? And do you have any suggestions of how to improve this photo for next time?

Thank you very much!!!

Hi Birdland!

I think that this is the right place for a 'waterscape.' Overall, I think this is nice and doesn't need any improvement.

If I were to suggest something, I think that this image would be a perfect candidate for HDR processing. The exposure is perfect for the sky, but you have no detail in the shoreline and limited detail in the water. HDR would bring out detail in both of those areas.

You've also got a little bit of lens flare in the lower part of the image. I would try to clone it out with the stamp tool and use a lens hood if you were to shoot it again.

Those are just a couple of my ideas, but I don't think you need them.

Thank you very much Kansai! I really appreciate the critique, and I agree on the HDR, I'll have to grab a hold of the program sometime. Thank you
