Hi Garry! Might want to take a look at the critique rules. Usually they like only one photo at a time and a specific question that you want critiqued so the "critiquers" can help you efficiently. Also posting the EXIF data will help immensely!

Beautiful part of the country! Believe it or not, I have relatives who live in Castle Rock! No kidding!

Hi Garry,

I just love Colorado; it's my favorite place in the States. You are so lucky to live there.

Just quickly I think that both of your images would benefit from an increase in contrast. With whatever post processing program you use, increase the contrast a bit (not too much) and see if you like it. Especially for the image of the train in Silverton. Increasing the contrast will knock down some of the 'haze' on the mountain in the background.

Great shots!

Sorry for this, i guess that i should have read the rules first

The first shot was just a quick snapshot really, taken with my camcorder! Second one was of some breath taking scenery from aboard the Silverton/Durango train with a $98 Cannon.

I have taken a zillion photo's with both my camcorder and the Cannon cheapie since moving from England to Colorado three years ago.

I am now investing serious money on the Z35 and want to learn as much as i can about capturing / set up / and shooting at high altitude and bright sunlight.

I am guilty though of editing images and perhaps ramping the contrast up a little bit too high! However i am willing and able to take the odd beating in order for me to progress.

Many thanks for the intitial feedback, and i am off to read the rules........
