Default Long exposure - first attempt

This is my first try.

Don Valley at Night

Exposure: 8
Aperture: f/13.0
Focal Length: 42 mm
ISO Speed: 100
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Auto, Did not fire

I know, I should have ised higher ISO, but how high? Also, any suggestions on how to make the buildings on a background to be more clear.

Welcome Tusia to DPS, Since it is your first attemp, the lines look cool
To have more light in the buildings I suggest to increase the exposure.
Thanks Art

Hi Tusia,

I think your ISO is fine. I usually shoot my night stuff at 100. Increasing your exposure will bring detail in the buildings in the background, but it will also make the foreground brighter. Specifically the foliage under the street lamp and the surface of the highway. My advice is to shoot earlier at night. If you shoot at twilight, the sky will have some color and the buildings will be more visible. There is a great tutorial here at DPS about twilight shots (posted last year I think). Here is the link:

Twilight Photography Tips

Try that and you might like the results.
