I wanted something a little surreal, so added a lot of contrast and noise. I thought the stacks ended up looking a little like church spires. I had another photo with both stacks on one side (more "rule of thirds" in composition, less symmetrical), but I think the symmetry works for this photo. Do you? Would you crop out the structure at the bottom so it's just the stacks?

Hi klwinding,

I think this image is great. I like the symmetry and I would not crop out the bottom. I think it adds context makes the image quite nice.

Hey there,

I think to crop or not to crop is purely personal preference on this shot. I myself think the shot might benefit from losing the symmetry.

I think you would lose a lot of interest if you cropped the bottom bit out, it gives the image a kind of grounding as it is.

Did you add the noise in post processing? I think its a cool effect but it looks a bit too PPified. Bumping the camera up to max ISO would have given a more pleasing result I think.

Overall though, a nice shot

Thanks. I need to learn to use ISO more rather than relying on PP so much, particularly in this case since I knew I wanted it grainy and I had time when I took it to experiment. Thanks for the reminder to take chances.
