I think this is one of those scenes that could benefit from tasteful application of HDR or exposure blending.

You've got a nice sky going there, and the exposure on it is good, but the exposure on the buildings is much too low. Stick your camera on a tripod and take multiple exposures, one that properly exposes the buildings, and another that properly exposes the clouds. Stick em in photoshop and blend them using layers.

agree with the above, but try and make sure your two images are say within a few f-stops of each other., If you have a difference of like 5 or 8 stops (not sure how the hell people do this without intending to but meh) it will look really bad . Just my 2c

Without resorting to HDR - IMO it would be better to underexpose pictures of the sky.

I would set the exposure -1 or -2 EV and shoot in RAW, you can crank it back up when you transfer it. I would also go for a smaller aperture. Then again, it's all a matter of taste. I tend to underexpose most of my pictures

I gotta say I really like the exposure here. The buildings are darkbut they do compliment the scene very well. As for composition, I think you have a great foreground that doesn't distract from the picture. I like it.

Hi Flysaiah,

Is it me? Or does the horizon look like it is tilting to the right? It might be just me. Because of the relatively 'heavy' left side (the foreground, the bridge tower) and the relatively light right side. I feel like the image is off axis and it makes me feel uncomfortable. I think it would be a better image if there was less of the foreground. I don't know. Maybe it's just me.

I like the composition of the photo, but I think it's much too dark. Especially the buildings. Perhaps such dark buildings could be justified if the sky was more brilliant in coloring. But, the sky looks just sort of average.
