I was trying to get the rays through the clouds for impact; I probably should have waited another few minutes until the sun was lower. This was shot with full-auto settings, hand-held. EXIF info: Nov 27, 2009 Camera: Canon SX100 IS ISO: 80 Exposure: 1/1250 sec Aperture: 5.6 Focal Length: 34.9mm Flash Used: No Any thoughts are greatly appreciated! Do the clouds look right? Would you suggest a different ISO or exposure? Would a different white balance have helped or changed things?

Hi jmb and welcome to DPS. I hope you enjoy being with us and learn as you post like I am doing. Did you take any more of this sky as the clouds moved? I can see what you mean about waiting, the problem being that cloud formations change so quickly. I think you have managed to get a reasonably effective sunflare here. Keep sharing your shots with us. PAUL

I'm not sure I have the technical expertise to comment on your technique, but I'd try my luck again with a cloud that isn't as thick or at a different time. Some factors are just beyond out control.

Thanks for the input, everyone! Not sure when my next cloudy day will be as we're supposed to get rain/snow for the next week straight...this is Oregon, after all.
