Default Sailboats in B&W

I took this shot a few months back while traveling Lake Superior's north shore. The original RAW had quite a blue cast to it due to the time of day. The color contrast wasn't very appealing. But I did like the reflections and the contrast. So in the spirit of simplifying and removing what doesn't add to the composition, I thought I'd just remove the color altogether and see what it looked like in black & white.

What is your impression of the composition and contrast in black and white?

I like the two boats sitting at the angle you found them in. But, then all of a sudden your eye is drawn to the pier. Have you considered removing it and then maybe adding a slight vingette to bring even more focus on the boats?
I like the black and white quite a bit.

Interestingly enough, yep! I have another crop on Flickr...

How does this strike you? It doesn't have the vignette but the crop is more simplistic.

Worthy of a frame and some real estate on the wall!
