Default At Work

I wanted to have a critique of this shot: At Work. This is not the original as you can see, the building color has been changed to B&W. What do you think of the post processing. Is it creating the desired effect?

It was shot with a Canon 40D and Sigma 17-70 @ 17mm
F8
1/250
No flash, no tripod.

PS: Here is the same shot but with no post processing.

I really prefer the image with no processing for one simple reason, you retain the color of the sky and clouds in the windows of the building. The image is just a bit off center as well, a slight crop to center the sky couldn't hurt. Interesting shot though

I agree about the color except I would use a mask and make the buildings b/w but leave the color in the windows. also not only is the building off center but a little crooked. A slight clock wise rotation would be great. The idea is great and defiantly worth working on.

It does look very interesting like that. Maybe a bit too blue to my taste.

Isn't it easier to just say what you do not like than to link to the guidelines?

Actually no, because then you might not take the time to read the guidelines!

So if you insist, please read the guidelines and include all the information required. You'll need to ask a specific question (what you are wanting help with or maybe a hot to do question)
Exif information is also imperative. Knowing your camera settings play a HUGE part in offering you suggestions in alternate settings.

Posting your photo here instead of linking it to another site palys a big part in how may critiques you get. Folks just dont care to flip back and forth bewteen two web sites.

So, with that being said, can you edit your post? Please and thank you

Here ya go
We want everyone to have fun and learn here at DPS. In order to insure that, there are some rules you need to follow when posting in the Critique sections:

Only ONE new critique request per day(24 hour period) for ENTIRE critique section. Choose your image carefully.
Please post only ONE image in the thread. If you need to show more, link it to your set. If you post more than one, the other will be deleted at the moderators discretion.
Please keep images to 800px on the longest side. Mods reserve the right to resize oversize images or delete them until resized. This is easy to put up the proper size if you use flickr. If you feel it is necessary for us to see a larger size, link to it.
We strongly encourage the use of a photosharing site such as flickr, photobucket, zoomr, etc.
Please include the following information, if possible, with your image: EXIF info, type of camera, specific questions (What do you think? is not a specific question). A meaningful title, NOT "Critique Please", will also get your post noticed in a crowded section.
Only post if you are willing to be critiqued - this isn't a place for showing off, but a place for people to suggest how you can improve. If you don't think you need to improve then this might not be the section of our forums for you.
