Default Golden Gate Bridge

I'm new to DPS and just wanted some feedback on this shot of the Golden Gate Bridge north tower. It was taken while returning from a bike ride, ending on a long climb up to the bridge, and the hill and path seemed to echo that emotion. I cropped it and fooled with the colors. Possibly it's too dark. I was looking for a dramatic effect. The "watercolor" effect was just there.

I like the concept although it might be more dramatic if the bridge wasn't silhouetted.

Nice shot. Bridge needs to be straightened though.

Personally, I would love to see this in a B&W. There are some really nice high's and lows in the tones and I think B&W would really bring out a nice depth to the photo. Interesting shot though, I don't recall seeing the bridge in this manner, tough thing to accomplish with such a frequently photographed subject.

Here is the black-and-white (con)version, and I like it. I found it looked better if I reduced contrast (this almost seemed counterintuitive) and boosted the exposure a little. I have also straightened the bridge (very subtle—I hadn't noticed it was off). Afraid I don't quite understand how less silhouette is more dramatic. But thanks to you all. I think I've learned something.

The B&W version is fantastic. The trail really draws your eye down to the bridge! Still, like I said, I really like this image

Freddie, thanks for your suggestion. I'm starting to think it's much better as a b/w image (which maybe ought to have been occurring to me with the somewhat murky colors). But the whole point of the foto is UP, rather than down.
