Default Lake George

I am looking for help on how to improve the composition of this shot. I will not be able to re-shoot because it was taken on a trip. It was taken a little later in the morning than I would have liked to have taken it. The sun was very bright at the time of the shot (did help with reflections). In addition to composition what are your opinions on exposure or any other advice. Location is Lake George, Upstate NY

DSC_0166-2

Camera: Nikon D70s
Exposure: 0.003 sec (1/400)
Aperture: f/16.0
Focal Length: 27 mm

I kind of like the way the composition is on this. I think you end up with some nice patterns and shadows with the docs and I like the multiple docs coming into the scene. Your exposure looks pretty good on the doc and the water. It would be nice to have the trees less silhouette looking and more lit but that is the time of day thing that you have already pointed out. Personally I think you made a pretty nice image even with the time of day being later than wanted.

I really like the patterns and shadows as well. If you are concerned about the lighting, you could see how it looks as a B&W image, or even try for an antique look. Beautiful photo!

I think your composition is spot on the only thing off was your color balance.

Composition is good. I might have backed up a couple of inches to mask the sun reflection lower right. Might lighten it up a bit - hard lighting and glare can sometimes produce darker shots than intended

^^^I agree. Excellent balance. What I find really appealing here is that you didn't shoot right down the middle of the dock.
