I think the sky is blown out in this picture. What do you think?
How about the framing? And the focus. What do you think?

Hi Lois,
I agree that the sky looks blown out. I like the framing, but are all of the branches necessary? Maybe a tighter crop would take out some of the clutter, still achieve the framing you are looking for, and bring your subject closer? I also think the color is a little on the cool side. I definitely like what you are going for here, though. Hope it helps.

Aaron

I agree that the sky is blown out but if you want a good exposure on the house and trees it probably is just going to be blown out. I also agree that the foreground branches are a bit distracting, I would suggest zooming in past the branches and trying to compose the shot with a bit of the grass at the bottom and the house and trees filling most the upper frame, eliminating as much sky as possible (at least during the time of the day the sky wants to blow out for this view).

Agree with the other comments about the sky. Maybe try a graduated neutral density filter next time or in processing? I'd also suggest trying to capture the top of the trees on the left side of the frame.

The sky is defenitely blown out.The best is try to compose the picture in such a way thet you do not see any sky.You couls crop the sky out in this picture.

Thank you all for your comments. I tried cropping the picture. I don't know if it works or not. I think a filter would have made a difference here. I don't have photoshop, so that is not an option. Here is the crop. Thanks again.

It is funny that this picture seems overexposed. It was taken about 5 pm. Here in North Carolina it gets dark by 6. So the sun was low in the sky. I used the meter reading to set the exposure. Just thinking out loud. Hmm...

I like it! Maybe a touch of sharpening? Very nice!
