Default Foggy day...

I'm a bit new to photography and i know this photo don't have much punch to it. Any tips to improve it? If possible i'd like to see edited versions. Maybe i'm asking too much though. Thanks...

Image was shot using a Canon 350D and 18-55mm lens
Auto mode
1/80 shutter speed
6.3 Av
Iso 400

I'd re-frame to keep the front of the bigger boat in, if you get the chance to either re-crop the original or re-shoot. I'd also re-touch out the (?) rope floating in the water.. not a huge deal, but takes my attention away from the main subject.

Welcome to dPS :-)

I don't think reshooting is possible since we dont get fog too often. Also photo wasn't cropped so the front of the boat was never there. Thanks for replying...

If you had managed to get the whole boat, this would have been an amazing shot. Other than that I think it is well exposed.

Hopefully you will get another foggy day so that you can retake the photo

shame about missing the front of the boat in the original composition but still an interesting shot - here's my modification

Fog1

Cropped out some of the lake to the LHS and adjusted levels, hue/sat and added a grad filter

IMO, fog itself doesn't make a "subject". It adds "atmosphere" to an image. Your "subject" (the boats) are cut off and leading out of the image instead of into it.

Thanks everyone. I guess i should have paid more attention to the boats rather than the fog. Maybe i can get a pic of the boat and edit the front into my image...

im not editting guru but could you edit out the big boat and therefore the little boat would take the attention and not the having of half of a boat

Like this?
I could have done better with a larger original, but it came out ok I think.

Thanks for having a go at it. I also had try. I came here to add the edited photo and saw you already done it. Here's mine...
