Default City Sidewalk at Night

I took this the other night and like how the lights played off of the brick sidewalk. I dont like the gate in the background however. I would like your thoughts on the overall composition of this photo and how I could have captured the light and the brick differently.

The exposure looks good, looks sharp as well. For me it seems like you have a nice walkway that leads the eye into the photo but then there seems to be no real subject beyond to keep the eyes moving. I think you are onto the right track but just need to find a way to shoot it that keeps the interest going beyond the path. Hope that helps.

A good image that I think lends itself to a square crop, cutting off the footpath below the second "bar" in the brickwork panels. If you have the skills I would also make the walls vertical before cropping. If the top LH lamplight could have been fully included I think it would help the rhythm from the lights.

the first thing i noticed is that this pic is not straight.. everything is leaning to the right,. Nice lights, like it. this pic is exposed nicely.

I agree with Mike above. Good technique but in need of a focal point / punctum (Barthes)
