Default Angel Falls, Washington State

I shot this on Wednesday 11 Nov 09 at Angel Falls in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The day was overcast with some mist but what else is new for this area in Nov. Looking for your thoughts on composition and tonality. Thanks.

I think it looks nice. I like the way the water looks and there is nice contrast between the water and the darker colors in the rocks. If anything I wonder if you could pull back just a bit to bring in a little more of the scene. Nice job.

Very nice.
However I would like to see a waterfall in a landscape as opposed to just a waterfall. There appears to be some nice pretty moss and such but it has mostly been cropped out.
A few steps back would have been nice to allow more of the surrounding landscape.

Actually, overcast skies and mist are perfect for waterfall pictures. When the skies are overcast, that's when I head to the streams and rivers...especially after a soaking rain. The clouds act as soft boxes which even and soften the light and the mist (wet surfaces) makes color saturation very pleasing.

Compositionally, I agree that there needs to be more seen. The straight-line falls in the upper left are a bit distracting and leave me wondering what's creating it. Might zoom out just a tad or tray a different perspective. Otherwise a pretty neat shot.

Thanks for the tip. I'll give this a try on some of the other shots to see how they come out.
