Default Old Factory

This is my very first post on this site (or any other photography site). The photos are of Peter's Cartridge Factory King's Mills, Ohio. It use to make ammunition during both World Wars. It has an very interesting history after several deaths an accidents during its operational days.
I'm mostly just showing these off, but am interested in any comments or suggestions. Thanks!

I see why you would find this an interesting image. Lots and lots of character!
For this I find the tree is adding too much to the photo. You want the focus to be on the building and with no distractions. Try a closer crop.
Perhaps some more contrast so you have more shades of black and white instead of just greys
I'd be interested to know what your exif information was as well.

Thanks for the tips!

I used my Nikon D60 w/ 18-200mm, ISO 160, Exposure 1/125 sec, f/5.60 38.00mm focal length, no flash.

By the way, can anyone help me with actually pasting photos on here? I've tried attaching them, and also linking to my flickr account, but neither just pastes a regular size photo in my posting like most people seem to do.

Thanks

Buildings like this make for some great subject matter for B&W photography. I do agree with windrider86's comments on the tree and that the image could use a bit more contrast. There is also a spot on the upper part of the photo from something, I am guessing maybe a sun flare. Other than that I think it is looking good. With something like this just really explore what different angles bring and you can often go in tight in areas to capture different architectural details.

The tree doesn't bother me. Since the leaves have fallen you don't have foliage blocking the view and detail of the building.
Think of it this way, you see the lines and architecture of a made made structure aswell as the one of a mother nature made structure.
Biggest thing I'm seeing here is a lack of contrast making the picture appear rather flat.
A little post-processing to bring out some shadows could do wonders for this shot..

I agree with the others about adding a bit of contrast to the shots. on the frst shot we se a big sun flare, i would suggest brigning a lens hood on a shoot. I prefer the composition of the second one.
