Default Nite Shot

On the following photo. Please critique anything you like or don't, however, I'm most curious about
- the angle, does it work? If I shot more straight on, the office lights show.
- the crop, too tight? Limited unobstructed view
- and the lights, Color or B&W. Tried it in B&W and didn't like it.

Thumbs up

Thanks for sharing the pic. The angle is a good one IMO. I am big fan of obscure angles when shooting. However the crop is a bit tight and it doesnt capture the true affect of the lighting that is going on in the shot and the buildings color. If you have this pic wide angle with the entire building I would love to see it. Hope I was helpful

Thanks for the feedback. I've attached the original photo, before cropping along with the best representation of the building I had. The lower portion of the building was not lit. I was trying to capture the unique lighting of the upper portion. I would appreciate some comments so I can go back and re-shoot this.

I would say for what you are wanting to do the original photo you posted is on track. I like the angle in that one the best. I think you need to shoot at a higher f stop, maybe around f11-f16, to get more of that upper wall in focus. That will push you to a much slower shutter speed so you will need to be sure to be on a tripod. As far as this photo goes I would prefer to see the roof corner, at the top edge of the frame, completely in the frame. The other thing I notice is some light spots in the black sky, those you could just stamp out. Hope that helps.

Mike

Thank Mike. I was using a tripod. Now I have an idea what to do. I'll try to get out sometime this week and give it another try.
