Default "high hopes for sunlight"

I would like to get this framed for my mothers birthday but I'm still not sure about the lighting, crop, and if the background is fine. Also, should the color be emphasized more? Any other comments are appreciated as well

It's a beautiful rose but I don't feel the background is doing much for the capture.
Perhaps a black or red back ground might have faired better.
This can often be done with a simple piece of construction paper behind the subject.
However, as a gift coming froma daughter, I think she will love it ..
Don't let a photographers eye discourage you...

It is a really nice rose, love the water drops. I also don't care much for the leaves in the background but I still think it would make for a nice gift.

With the comments regarding the back ground coming to mind, perhaps try the image as a black and white?
Use the unsharp mask tool to sharpen up the rose a bit and with the converstion add some contrast to it
