I dont know if this can be considered as a landscape, more of a "tree portrait" i think.

any comments on the composition and exposure of this would be nice.

The rock gives a nice contrast to the tree. ( hard versus soft, horizonal versus vertical ).
However the top of the tree gets lost in the sky.
Perhaps try at a different time of day for better lighting..

I'd like to see a little more detail on the rock(pile of hay?) Possibly a different angle to illuminate it a bit better.

Thanks tom for the comment, yes It was a bright day. You can see the sun glare, at the top-right side of the frame..:-),
Mike, i did thought of that, but the background behind me was full of distraction, anyway probably i'll try a different view maybe on the right. This scene was on top of a hill, I actually liked how the rock and the tree blend together.

The sky's a bit too bright in this photo...i guess using a polariser could have helped you.

I agree with Tom and Kaze. The time of day is probably a problem. Definitely have lost the top of the tree in the sky. I don't think a polarizer would have done much. The problem is the shadows and a polarizer only helps with reflections but it would have darkened the blue sky a bit. Here the shadows are harsh and short...typical for the middle of the day. Try late or early in the day. Plus this time of day will have a much more pleasing color.

Composition-wise, it's pretty good. I like how the trees on either side "cradle" the main tree. Maybe crop out a bit more of the sky above the tree? This might be a great candidate for a dusk photo with the foreground completely black and the sky ablaze with post-sunset colors.
