Hi everyone, new to the forums so be kind
Very much an amateur here and only started to become addicted to photography about 8 months ago, most of my shots are aperture priority i also use Shutter Priority Modes to, still not confident enough to go full manual but will when experience/confidence grows.
Here is the link to my photo for assessment:

FINAL_ POND_NEW SKY

It’s a large photo!! Not got any photo accounts yet so sorry about size..
It has been tweaked a little in Photoshop and i added a new sky too.

Nikon D40X
Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED-IF AF-S VR DX Zoom
f/8
Exposure time: 1/125
ISO: 100
Exposure bias@ -0.3 step
Focal length 36mm

Not got a Tripod yet so the shot was hand held, must invest in one to be honest!
Would love to hear opinions, be honest i can take criticism if it’s the helping kind.
Many thanks and take care!!

Simon

I would say it is a nice shot. The lighting is nice and the colors in the scene look nice. 2 things I am seeing that I find distracting are the leaves poking up at the bottom edge of the frame (the lighter color ones) and the portion of tree on the left edge of the frame. The tall plant on the right that looks like it is right on the edge of the pond is a little distracting as well as it comes into the view of the pond so much. Overall a pretty good job.

Hi Simon and welcome to DPS. I hope you enjoy our company and I know that if you keep clicking, posting and sharing you will grow, as I have done over the months to come. You are off to a great start with this beautiful view of our country, and I can see we have some great shots to come from you. God bless. PAUL

Very nice composition with a begining, middle and end.
I agree some of the leaves in the foreground are a bit distracting but overall find it to be a very nice piece of work.

Thanks for your comments and nice to hear from you, yes i agree the front end of this photo needs a clean up, i might go back and brave the swamp and get closer to the waters edge.

Many thanks guys, enjoy your weekend.

I'm willing to bet you'll get more responses if you post your photo here. That way one doesnt have to flip back and forth from one web page to another

hmm, can you add it as an attachment or do you have an account with Flickr or Photobucket?
