Default Newbie Review of Grand Canyon

Well guys and gals, as promised I finally finished PP some pictures I took with my fiancé during our trip to the Grand Canyon and Vegas. If you've read some of my past posts it's pretty clear I'm no pro, just a guy that has recently discovered the enjoyment of photography.

I'm not experienced enought to ask for any specific feedback. At this point I just want to make sure I'm on the right track with composition and PP.
I would also like to know if my post processing is ok. All the PP I did here was mainly adjusting midtone lighting and contrast. It was a pretty hazy day so I felt the colors were lost a bit

I posted a couple of the images here and the rest are in Flickr and can be accessed through the link below if you want to see the set.

All pictures were taken with a Canon 50D and a 17-55mm f2.8 lens. The lens had a Singh Ray polarizing filter on it. On some pictures I also used a Singh Ray ND filter.

Everything was a learning experience, from the picture taking, to the gear.
I tried to use the 1/3 rule and also tried some framing techniques.

Also, how do I add the EXIF data so you can can view it if you chose to?

Here is the Flickr link:

They look pretty nice, looks like you are on the right track. Some things I would put out there are watch the horizon lines, the 2 landscapes you have posted here look like they might be leaning to the right just slightly. A lot of programs have a straighten tool that works good when needed. The fountain shot looks good just watch where you cut the frame, it would be nice to have the frame cut just below the statue's arm. I actually have a B&W on the wall that is one of the statues from that same fountain.

As far as EXIF info I get it from my photo editing program and copy over what is important for review. When you have an image open there should be a tab/menu that will give you all the shooting info the camera recorded with the image file. As you use flicker it looks like you can get it from there also under "More Information" on the photo page.

Hope that helps,
Mike

hey guys thanks for the info.
yeah i saw where the EXIF info is in Adobe Bridge I just didn't know I had to copy the info, I thought there would be a way to just export the data to a file then upload that.
Either way, I'll post the relevant info.

Seeing the EXIF info for the canyon shot I would also suggest a higher f stop and having the ISO @ 100 for shots like that.

mpf777,
Yeah i noticed the ISO later. I was taking a bunch of pictures and didnt' notice that until late. But I agree if i didn't set the ISO to 400 on purpose.
I would agree with the f-stop too. I should have had it at about f8 to f11.
