Default Tree in fall color

Took a picture of this Aspen (I think not sure the diff between Aspen and Alder) in full fall color. I was trying to take an approach of photographing the tree with the light filtering threw the leaves as I think it really brightens the color in the leaves. So I am wondering if you feel this photograph works and if you see anything I might try to do differently in the future?

Nikon D80, Nikon 18-55mm @ 23mm, ISO 100, 1/60's, f/9

The back-lit leaves works great in this capture.
I've noticed in your past couple of post that your landscape scenes tend to be right on top of the subject rather than giving a little distance in the foreground allowing the eyes to wonder into the scene and up to the subject.
I'm not saying this is a bad thing for everybody has their own taste and style. I'm just simply making a observation. :>)

Yeah I know what you are saying. I tend to move in closer to the better subject matter if the larger scene is not doing it for me. On this one I was trying to limit the sky as much as possible because the direction I was shooting to get the filtered light threw the leaves also produces somewhat blown out sky, plus a lot of the surrounding trees were kind of bland as many were much further along on loosing there leaves. I do have some shots that capture slightly larger scenes from this fall I will see about posting one of those later for some review.
Thanks for the comment and in put, I appreciate it.
