I think all the suggestions were good. I just think that this is actually a difficult scene to compose. If you shoot from the left of the fence, then you will lose the affect of the s-curve of the fence and also possibly lose some of the nice contract from the green landscaping. I also thought maybe a lower perspective would have been good to remove some of the plain grey from the road but then, again, you will lose the backdrop of the curving fence leading up to the top left of the photo which is nice. Honestly, I don't know if there is much you can do with this scene other than what you have. I think maybe shoot from the same side of the fence but stand even closer or point the camera a little more to the left to remove some of the road.
Just my $0.02

what it you got down closer to the fence
and maybe have the image running up the fence? your main focus is the fence and people like how it leads there eye, so what if you made it a bit more of the main focus in the image and that would take out all of the 'boring' stuff people are talking about just a thought.... |

I'm thinking the shot needs more on the right side. If its just a dropoff, what about shooting it from the edge of the dropoff, and possibly trying to catch some of that edge along the right side of the frame. I think it would give a better feel for why the road makes such a bend like that.
