Hi all, I posted this initially in Share your shots section and had a very good response, thought this is perhaps my best time to enter the critique section and get some some comments from experts. Any advice is welcome.
Location: Alberta Legislature building, Edmonton,AB,Canada EXIF: Camera: Nikon D60 Exposure Mode: Aperture Priority Focal Length: 20mm (30mm equivalent) Exposure time: 1/50 sec Aperture: f/4.0 ISO: 100 Flash: Not used Exposure bias: 0.0 I've been shooting with my DSLR for 11 months now and I can certainly notice improvements in my photos and DPS and its readers have been the biggest contributors by far. Thanks to everyone for that. Excellent use of reflections and symmetry, good exposure, interesting composition, lack of converging lines.
I wouldn't change a thing very nice image

I like it very much but something seems slightly "off" to me. I am not sure if it is a problem with my eyes or shadows but the roofline does not "appear" to be horizontal. I tried taking the picture in to Picasa and straightening it and low and behold it was straight. It must be an optical illusion.
Other than that it is an awesome shot. |

I too really like the symmetry and straight lines in this shot. If you were open to editing the content a little bit I would clone out the little bit of greenery (top of a tree?) that is merging with the frame on the right-hand side of the image (along with top of the building to the right) as it serves as a slight visual distraction (at least to my eyes), but it is a very minor detail. You could also just crop in just a touch to get rid of it.
I suspect the image could maybe look good as a B&W rendering as well? On overall a very nice architectural image. P.S. If this building is lit at dusk it could perhaps also be an interesting subject around dusk (before it gets pitch dark).

I really quite like this 'one touch' B&W conversion, but the colour version is not bad either (you could actually push the golden yellow/orange and blues even more to play off those two colours off each other).
However I think I like the B&W most. Cheers
