Default White House...

I was in DC a few days ago and had a short oppt. to shoot the White House.
The original had more lawn in the foreground. This was also taken at dusk. Was wondering if I can get critique on composition and lighting. And of course anything else that comes to mind.

It is sort of a weird crop, no?

The tree on the left is distracting and looks a bit soft. I'd bump up the aperture a bit to get some better detail.

The horizon could use straightening. Never been there but I'm guessing it's pretty tough to shoot from different viewpoints. I like the yellow lighting on the building.

I believe you're right. Bumping up the aperture would have given more detail, therefore I wouldn't have tried to crop in closer for more detail. Lesson learned. Thank you.

I had a lot of trouble with the horizon. If you scroll to ledge before the roof, you'll find it is straight and yet, everything seems askew. This is something I can't seem to get "straight" pardon the pun. Something I need to work on.
Different viewpoints are tough because of the big iron gate. But I should've tried the different angles available.
Thank you.
