This is my first post on DPS. I have taken several shots on the bridge. This was taken with long exposure time and the water looks silky, while there is another with shorter exp. and that looks much different, because of the surface of the river. Which is better approach for this kind of photos? I'm not sure about the composition either. Would a more narrow (or maybe a wider) one be better? I have taken all kinds but can not decide...

Would be glad to hear your opinion!

Thanks!

Welcome to DPS

The reason for the silky look to the water is the long exposure time, this look is often sought when shooting moving water as it can have an interesting texture to a photo.

As to how wide the shoot should be - most shots of bridges (but not all) need to show one if not both piers to 'ground it'. Showing the complete bridge makes for a good picture, because people like to see where it is going to & where it's come from.

I like your photo & encourage you to take as many different views of the bridge, in differing conditions, with different settings as you can - experiment, learn & above all enjoy

I like the composition you have here. Very simple but yet pleasing. I prefer the softer look of long exposures for this type of scene. It's really up to you though...or what you think the viewer would like.

Interesting fact. Marlow bridge is South Buckinghamshire, England is a replica of this bridge in budapest, only smaller.

Its a nice photo of the bridge at night but the camera is struggling with the brightness of the lights. Try taking the shot in twilight where you still get the dark effect but there is some ambient light to balance the street lights.

I love Budapest, there is so much to photograph there if you have enough time, especially at night. Nice shot
