Hi there -
This is my first post, so hopefully I am doing it right. I have just started to get more serious about photography and would like to see what you think about this shot. I haven't used photoshop on it at all. Is the lighting ok . . . or is it too orange? What about the composition?

Welcome.

In my opinion I would knock the exposure down a tad, increase the black level to get a true black and add contrast and then I would cool it down to to lessen the orange a bit. It might look nice in B&W as well.
