Default Japanese Garden

I've looked a this photo one too many times and can't decide if I like the composition or not. Sometimes I think the eye goes over the bridge on out of the shot and sometimes I feel like the eye is drawn up to the gazebo. What do you think? Any other observations? All constructive criticism is appreciated.

hi!

if you want to emphasize more on the bridge, i suggest yo move further to the left, getting the whole bridge on the pic plus the pond.
if you want to emphasize the gazebo, i think it's better portrait-wise.
IMHO.

For me personally my eye is drawn to the bridge...I like how the you caught the reflection in the pond. I think it's a nice shot, but i'm far from a pro, just thought i'd chime in

This is the kind of image that I like to play with as far as crops. If you want me to take this down, let me know. Otherwise, let me know what you think. I also adjusted levels and applied a small amount of unsharp mask.

Default I like it just the way it is

The photo looks great to me. The gazebo is a secondary focal point but that is not really bad.

Denja, you and others like to play with crops but the problem is that for many of us the crop should be in a standard print size since we plan on printing a framing or at least working on a portfolio. I have been working almost exclusively on 8x10s so your cropping the bottom without corresponding proportional crop of the width just does not work for me.

I agree with your assessment of my crop. I have made recommendations both ways on here, both with constrained and unconstrained crops. What I have found is that if you cannot get a good crop with the constraint of print size, if you want to print it, you can print on a larger size sheet and trim. I have done this a lot, especially with panoramic. But, I do realize your concern, and am glad that you brought it up, because I feel a few people on here looking for advice do not understand the constraints when cropping. Thanks for your input!
